Hazards In The Garden

I never knew there were so many hazards in my yard and garden, until I had to chase a 16 month old through it.

Finn in the yard.

There are sticks that Jazz brings up for Finn to trip over.

And excrement left by Lucy that needs to be avoided when walking through the yard.

Finn loves to go through the garden gate and explore, but there are poisonous mushrooms growing, that he wants to touch; a slimy, green garden pond to keep him from falling in; and resources that are used in and around the beds that are dangerous to small ones.

Mushrooms.

I am in the process of working on the yard and garden to make it less hazardous, but we also have to watch out for hazards in our own lives. What trips us up, or makes us fall into a slimy pit. What is poisonous to us?

Proverbs is full of God’s wisdom to avoid hazards in life.

Proverbs 1:8 “…hear the instruction of they father, and forsake not the law of thy mother.”

Proverbs 3:30 “Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.”

Proverbs 4:24 “Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.”

Proverbs 5: 15 “Drink waters out of thine own cistern and running waters out of thine own well.”

Proverbs 10: 27 “The fear of the Lord prolongeth days…”

Proverbs 10:14 “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.”

Proverbs 12:22 “Lying lips are abomination to the Lord…”

Proverbs 13:20 “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”

Proverbs 14:1 “Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish pulls it down with her hands.”

Proverbs 21:23 “Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.”

Proverbs 24:17 “Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth.”

Proverbs 29:22 “An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.”

Proverbs 29:23 “A man’s pride shall bring him low…”

Finally… to sum it all up…

Proverbs 9:10 “The fear (reverence, honor) of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”

AND

Proverbs 16:3 “Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
