My name is Jane, alias Tilley. I love spending time with my family, gardening, writing, and revamping my house and yard.
God has blessed me over the years, as you will soon see.
I have been married to my wonderful husband for 35 years. He likes for me to say “wonderful husband” like Michelle Duggar says about Jim Bob in the opening segment of their show (19 Kids and Counting). That is one of my favorite shows, so he has had to watch it a lot, and he is wonderful in so many ways. He is a great provider and has been a calming influence as we have faced the ups and downs of life together.
I have two children.
My oldest, a daughter named Allison, is married to a “wonderful husband” named Ryan. They recently had my first grandbaby named Finn. Being a grandmother is the greatest thing in the world. I never knew how impossibly amazing and sweet a little grandbaby like Finn could be, but he has completely taken my heart. I would stand on my head just to illicit his big smile with the dimple.
Allison is my writing buddy, technology helper, and accountability partner to keep me on a Biblical path. She listens to me as I bare my soul and commiserates when things aren’t going the way I wish they would. I am so thankful for our close relationship.
Ryan is also my technology helper, new trends updater, and the best finder of neat places to visit. I admire his ability to stand up for his beliefs, even in hard circumstances. He is an example to me to stand strong.
Finn is the revealer of God’s handiwork in even the smallest details of life.
My second child is a wonderful son.
His name is Preston, and he chose the best daughter-in-law I could have ever hoped for, Collette. I feel constantly blessed to have her in my life.
Preston keeps me up-to-date on the release of cool movies, health and fitness, and ways to stay young. He doesn’t mind occasionally ‘slapping’ me in the face (don’t comment, I mean figuratively) if I am reading too much into a circumstance. He keeps me straight. He is also a guider (I said guider, not guilder, Preston—Ha Ha) for staying on a Biblical path. I am so thankful for him.
Collette teaches me how to stay young, be girly, enjoy small pleasures in life, how to shop for a bargain at thrift stores, and put neat outfits together. Her strong stand for God and her convictions, on all occasions, are a constant inspiration to me.
They have my only grand-dog, Josie—a funny little Yorkie mix, that is amazingly smart. She comes to visit on occasion, and when I go to their apartment she welcomes me with so much energy she leaves no doubt in my mind that I am loved.
We have two dogs, Lucy and Jazz, a cat named Scout, and chickens. They keep me company as I work in the garden.
The chickens sing to me, and the dogs come help me dig, or jump on my back if I try to ignore them.
The cat comes for his share of attention also.
So now you can see how blessed I am. I don’t take any of this “wonderful” life for granted. God is good.
I hope you will join me for future posts that illustrate God’s miracles in the garden.
