The Gift

Yesterday morning, I was cleaning leftovers out of the refrigerator. It was very cold outside and I thought, I’ll just leave the leftover chicken pot pie outside the back door for the dogs. I went out without a coat, and was trying to hurry as quickly as possible, when I noticed the sky. I forgot to be cold, as I looked on God’s Majesty in creation.

The sky was a beautiful, layered, fluffy mass, of pinks and blues. I ran back inside for my camera and took several pictures. How awesome to stop and enjoy the beauty God provides for us…

the beauty that gives us moments of rest and calms our weary hearts.

A gift!

Fluffy pink sky over our barn.

Fluffy pink sky over our barn.

Behind our home.

Behind our home.

Beside the barn.

Beside the barn.

Sometimes even the mundane things, like cleaning out the leftovers, can lead us to a celebration of something so beautiful, you have to stop for a moment. You can’t buy this kind of beauty, and it is free to all… the rich and the poor.

There is another gift that comes to mind at this time of year, that is reflected in the pinks and blues of fluffy clouds and the beautiful colors of fall leaves…

and… it is free to all!
