A Day of Rest

A weed

A weed

“And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.” Genesis 2:2 (NKJV)

Even God had to rest. I am grateful that He built in a natural day of rest for us. Rest is a good thing, especially in the garden where much of the work is very hard physically.

On Saturday, I took a rest from my gardening and went to visit my parents with my children and almost four month old grandbaby. It was the first time my parents were able to see Finn, and they were as captivated as we have all been.

We were out looking over my dad’s garden, when I took this picture of a flowering weed.

Weeds just show up. We don’t plant, cultivate, or feed weeds.

Yet there they are!

And, with no effort on our part at all, if we look closely…. in a common weed, we find uncommon beauty…. and rest.
